We provide training for those who will be deployed to disaster areas and also for those directly involved in working with us.
TRAINING IN SUPPORT OF DEPLOYMENTS:
For Members of the Deployment Aid Response Team (DARTS)
Following selection, potential DARTS are provided with a 2-Phase training programme. Part 1 training is a four-day training and assessment exercise involving both classroom and field work. Part 2 Training takes place during the DARTS first deployment.
We also ensure that our trainers are kept up to date.
Training of Local Partners in Humanitarian Aid
As part of our deployment work, we train our local partners in volunteer management in a disaster, humanitarian standards and guidelines, security in emergencies and the ethos of “do-no-harm”. In addition, if water filters have been deployed, we train the users in their essential care and maintenance.
TRAINING FOR THOSE WORKING WITH US
Volunteers who are willing to give presentations on our behalf are provided with a one-day training event, which is attended by most of the team, and provides information, presentation advice and resource material. Such training days are normally held annually.
