Caribbean Hurricane Appeal
Since we launched our Hurricane Irma Appeal the Caribbean was threatened by Hurricane Lee and then hit by Hurricane Maria. It was for these reasons that we renamed our Hurricane Irma Appeal the Caribbean Hurricane Appeal.
This allowed us to provide aid to Caribbean countries other than those specifically damaged by Hurricane Irma alone.
Our Disaster Aid Response Teams (DARTs) have now returned from Puerto Rico and Dominica where water and roof repair projects were identified. Disaster Aid USA will continue to focus on Puerto Rico while our attention remains on Dominica. Now, several months later, there is still much to be done in this small island and we have good contacts with the local Rotary clubs in Dominica.
An article recently published in the Feb-March issue of the RIBI Rotary magazine (insert link) gives a unique perspective of one of DART volunteer’s experience in Dominica.
To date, the response our Appeal has been heartening and if are one of those who have already supported us then we thank you very much.

Other Deployments in 2017
In 2017, Disaster Aid International sent 450 tents and more than 2,000 mosquito nets to the Philippines where between 300,000-400,000 people have been displaced by unrest caused by ISIL; returned to Nepal to complete our promise of bringing safe water to children; installed water filters in Bhutan; and, following the earthquake in Mexico delivered home repair kits and water filters.
Disaster Aid UK & Ireland’s main focus remains on the Caribbean where we know from continuing reports that aid will be needed for many months to come.
