Caribbean Hurricane Appeal
Since we launched our Hurricane Irma Appeal the Caribbean was threatened by Hurricane Lee and has been hit by Hurricane Maria and Tropical Storm Nate.
The 2017 Hurricane/Storm season is far from over, and though we hope that any other storms that might reach the Caribbean will be ‘gentle’ nobody can say for sure that they will.
It is for these reasons that we are renaming our Hurricane Irma Appeal as Caribbean Hurricane Appeal.
This will allow us to provide aid to Caribbean countries other than those specifically damaged by Hurricane Irma alone. To date, the response our Appeal has been heartening and if are one of those who have already supported us then we thank you very much.
This year, Disaster Aid International has sent 450 tents to the Philippines where between 300,000-400,000 people have been displaced by unrest caused by ISIL, and returned to Nepal to complete our promise of bringing safe water to children. However, with earthquakes in Mexico; volcanic eruptions in Vanuatu (and possibly Bali); floods in Bangladesh; and outbreaks of cholera in many countries caused by insufficient supplies of safe water, we have an unfortunate abundance of disasters to choose from.
Our main focus remains on the Caribbean where we know from reports that aid will be needed for many months to come. Right now, Disaster Aid International is on deployment distributing 500 water filters, and at the same time establishing contact with Rotary clubs across the area to help work out the next steps.
Will you please help us to help others?
