Training & Deployment Manager Ed Cox and Darren Mayne (DART Team Leader) are working once again with our partner agency in Philippines, Balay Mindanaw.
“It is a real pleasure to return to the Philippines and to be invited to deliver training”, said Ed Cox.
DAI has worked with Balay Mindanaw twice over the past two years in response to Cyclone Sendong and Cyclone Pablo, and has built up an invaluable on going relationship with Balay Mindanaw.
The five-day course will cover the practical application of volunteer management in a disaster, humanitarian standards and guidelines, security in emergencies and the ethos of do-no-harm.
Ed and Darren will then travel south to Ban Ao, the village where DAI spent two months working at the start of the year in response to Cyclone Pablo.
“It will be great to visit our friends in the community of Ban Ao, and see how they have rebuilt there lives after the Cyclone Pablo destroyed there homes and livelihoods”.
The team will also carry out essential follow up assessment of DAI’s work in the area.
