The Syrian Crisis shows no sign of a major return of refugees where numbers who have left Syria now exceeding 2 million with half that number representing children. There is now immense pressure for shelter and clean water solutions .
Two clean water solutions are offered by Disaster Aid International:
The SkyHydrant designed for community activities and can produce 10000 litres/day. It is specifically designed for working in environments where there is little infrastructure. It has a 10 yr life span, is lightweight, easy to use immediately and does not need chemicals or replacement filters.
The Sawyer designed for family use as and when needed to avoid the risk of contamination as a result of storage. Can filter a litre/min, is small and portable and can be used with ordinary buckets or plastic containers. (see picture of demonstration at recent fundraising activity in Poynton)
Both these products have developed a strong reputation both on the ground and from experts in the field. As a result, DAUKI have decided to depart from their normal modus operandi of focusing on holistic disaster relief activities to support Syrian refugees where it is most needed; by raising money specifically to send over 350 Sawyer filters and 100 tents to be sent over in February as a first response.
